How many machines do you deliver per year?
How much do you spend on software development?
What percentage of your annual development expenses go toward maintenance? *
How long is the estimated service life of the machine?
* Information regarding calculation
The calculation assumes that an entirely new machine software solution is being developed. The development expenses on which the calculation is based are derived from our own experience in this area. Lifecycle costs comprise both development and maintenance costs. If your annual maintenance costs are 15% of your annual development expenses, then maintenance will account for 70% or more of total costs over the lifecycle of the machine.
For more information on the relevance of maintenance costs, see the study „The Economics of Software Maintenance in the Twenty First Century” by Capers Jones.
